  • Details
This vintage Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt was pieced circa the late 1960s to early 1970s, with the fabric selection most consistent with approximately 1970. The quilt is constructed from 1.5-inch cotton hexagons arranged into individual flower blocks and set against a solid pink background.

The fabrics provide a good cross-section of late mid-century cotton prints, including paisleys, small florals, stripes, novelty prints, bandana-style prints, and the avocado green, coral, turquoise, purple and teal colors associated with the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The quilt was later finished in the 1990s with long arm machine quilting. The quilting consists of continuous curlicues and swirling designs worked across both the flower blocks and the pink background.

The back is solid white cotton while binding is narrow and bright pink cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back. The batting is thin and lightweight.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. The later long arm quilting securely stabilizes the earlier pieced quilt top. Please review all photographs closely as they form an important part of the description.
