Vintage 1960s Kittens & Puppies Appliqué Crib Quilt -- Embroidered Child’s Quilt -- 34” x 56”

This charming vintage child’s quilt features appliquéd kittens and puppies made from pastel gingham and small floral-print cotton fabrics. The animals are outlined and embellished with embroidery, including stitched facial features, bows and other details. Scattered throughout the quilt are embroidered flowers, grass and yellow butterflies, giving the quilt a playful nursery design.

The center features a pink gingham puppy sitting beside a dark blue floral kitten, with additional green and blue gingham puppies and brightly colored floral kittens arranged around the quilt.

The entire quilt is densely machine quilted in a diagonal crosshatch/diamond pattern, which gives the white background a wonderful textured appearance. It has a white backing and narrow white binding that has been machine stitched to both sides. The batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition overall. The appliqué and embroidery remain bright and intact. There are some scattered light age-related discolorations and small marks visible on the white fabric, particularly on the backing, consistent with age and use. Please review the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description. The quilt has been soaked, freshly hand washed and line dried, giving it a light, natural, sun-dried cotton scent (not artificially fragranced).
