1930s Hand Embroidered Child’s Quilt – Hand Quilted with Animals, Birds & Children -- 33” x 55”

This is a charming vintage child’s quilt dating to approximately the 1930s or early 1940s and made with white cotton blocks separated by pink sashing and aqua green cornerstones and borders. Each block is hand embroidered with figures and animals, including owls, birds, cats, geese, rabbits, bonneted girls, and a gardener pushing a wheelbarrow.

The hand quilting is in a variety of motifs, including flowers, stars, a modified twisted rope and interlocking circles. The combination of pastel pink and aqua with the embroidered illustrations is especially characteristic of the 1930s into the early 1940s.

The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched on two sides and machine stitched on the other two sides. The cotton batting is lightweight and thin.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. The embroidery remains colorful and clearly defined, and the hand quilting is intact and highly visible. There are some small areas of age discoloration. Please review all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the condition description.
