  • Details
This vintage Schoolhouse Quilt measures approximately 61” x 78” and features repeated house blocks worked in deep blue, white, lavender, aqua and purple fabrics. The irregular shapes of the houses give the quilt a folk-art character, with each block slightly different from the next.

The houses are constructed in a dark blue textured fabric against an off-white background and framed with period floral and novelty prints. Several blocks use a pale lavender-and-yellow plaid in place of the dark blue, adding variation to the design.

It is hand quilted in outlines of the patchwork and in straight line grids in the open areas. The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.

CONDITION: This quilt is being sold as a cutter quilt due to its condition. There is fabric deterioration, wear, several dark spots and areas of deterioration in several of the lighter house blocks and surrounding fabrics. Despite the wear, there is a substantial amount of attractive original fabric remaining, including numerous intact Schoolhouse blocks. Please review the photographs as they form an important part of the description.
