Vintage Nine Patch quilt dating to the late 1930s or early 1940s, featuring colorful combinations of pink, blue, turquoise, green, yellow, red, and lavender fabrics, including floral prints, gingham checks, stripes, novelty prints, and small-scale calicos. The blocks are separated by wide white sashing with distinctive turquoise and white patterned cornerstones.
The quilt is hand quilted in an allover crosshatch grid. The back is a blue-and-white checked cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is thin and very lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt is being sold as a cutter quilt due to areas of fabric deterioration, thinning, and fabric loss. The damage is concentrated in several of the nine-patch blocks and portions of the white sashing, with wear along some edges. Despite these condition issues, at least 85% of the quilt remains intact, including many beautifully preserved vintage fabrics.
The quilt offers an excellent assortment of authentic Depression-era prints for restoration, repurposing, sewing projects, or use as a vintage textile display. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
