$239.00

  • Details
This colorful vintage string quilt, dating to the 1950s, features hundreds of small patchwork squares arranged in an alternating checkerboard design with bright golden yellow and white polka-dot fabric.

The string-pieced squares are made of vintage fabrics, including floral prints, plaids, stripes, paisleys, geometric patterns, and solids in shades of blue, green, pink, red, orange, black, lavender, and brown. Many of the squares contain two or more fabrics pieced together in diagonal strips, making this a real scrappy quilt.

The bright yellow polka-dot squares provide a cheerful contrast to the multicolored patchwork. The quilt has been machine quilted in a simple straight-line grid throughout the quilt. It has a light-cream colored cotton back while the border fabric from the front has been turned to the back and machine stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight and thin.

CONDITION: Very good vintage condition with some color transfer, particularly on the light-colored backing and the yellow ground, where areas of blue, purple, and orange discoloration are visible. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
