  • Details
Such a lovely Poppy Vine Quilt made from a Buccilla quilt kit dating to the 1940s. This striking quilt features a continuous wreath of large red and rose-colored poppies, accented with deep green and turquoise leaves, curling vines, and delicate embroidered foliage against a white background.

The poppies are individually hand appliquéd, with overlapping petals in several shades of red and pink. Their centers are embellished with yellow and green embroidery, adding wonderful detail and dimension to the flowers. The stems, leaves, and smaller floral elements are also carefully appliquéd and embroidered.

The quilt is extensively hand quilted, with extensive feather quilting, floral motifs and complex and beautiful crosshatch grids. The back is white cotton while the four-sided scalloped edges are finished with a narrow red binding that beautifully frames the entire quilt. The cotton batting is lightweight and thin.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition, with the hand appliqué, embroidery, and quilting beautifully preserved. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
