Vintage 1940s Scrappy Dresden Plate Quilt – Purple Sashing with Peach Background – 81” x 86”

Unusual and beautiful Vintage Scrappy Dresden Plate Quilt dating to the 1940s–1950s with 16 scrappy Dresden Plate blocks appliquéd onto warm peach backgrounds, separated by striking deep purple sashing with pale yellow cornerstones.

Each Dresden Plate has numerous narrow wedges of assorted vintage cotton fabrics, including colorful plaids, stripes, checks, florals, polka dots, and geometric prints. The scrappy construction incorporates a variety of midcentury fabrics, with no two Dresden Plates exactly alike.

The quilt features extensive hand quilting, including closely spaced shell grid patterns throughout the quilt. The back is a royal purple cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight and thin.
