This is a stunning small red and white Basket Quilt dating to the 1930s–1940s, featuring 64 individually hand-appliquéd baskets arranged in eight rows of eight. Each basket square measures just 6 inches and is made from vibrant red cotton.

The small scale of the baskets, combined with the exceptionally detailed hand quilting, makes this a particularly beautiful example of early 20th century quilting.

Each basket has been carefully appliquéd onto a white cotton background, with curved handles and angular bases. The quilt features extensive hand quilting in diagonal lines, intersecting geometric designs, and closely spaced parallel stitching that creates wonderful texture throughout the white background. Additional quilting crosses through the individual baskets, adding another layer of detail.
