Antique Prairie Star Quilt; 1900-1920s, hand-quilted; 78"x78"

This striking Prairie Star Quilt, circa 1900-1920s, has been beautifully pieced then quilted in a repeating shell pattern throughout the quilt.

The back is off-white cotton while the binding is red cotton that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The unsized cotton batting is lightweight.

The quilt is in excellent antique condition with a fraying binding. In addition, because the antique batting is unsized, it relies entirely on the quilting to keep the cotton evenly distributed which over many years results in thinning in some areas of the batting and in minor bunching or clumps in others. Such "clumping" is very minor in this quilt but can be felt when inspected.

The quilt is clean and soft and measures 78 inches by 78 inches and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. Pictured on a queen-size bed.
