This Pine Burr Variation Quilt, circa 1880s, is a variation on a class 1800s pattern and features sawtooth points in beautiful period fabrics, including double pink calicoes, indigo blues, cadet grays, shirtings and soft tan prints, all set on point with white alternating blocks with feather quilting. Besides feather wreaths, the quilting is in outlines of the patchwork and crosshatches.
The back is white cotton that has been turned to the front and hand-stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is unfortunately in poor or cutter/crafting condition as can be seen in the photos which show fabric deterioration, tears, holes and extensive fraying of the binding.
The quilt is clean, soft and comes from a smoke-free and pet-free home. It measures 63 inches by 81 inches. Shown on a queen-size bed.
