This beautiful Double Wedding Ring quilt dates to the 1940s, and was constructed from a charming mix of authentic 1930s and 1940s cotton prints, including feedsack florals, ginghams, plaids, polka dots, and novelty patterns, all set against a striking solid purple background.
The quilt is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, with quilting in the outlines of the tiny patchwork pieces and in geometric motifs in the open purple areas. The back is a lavender cotton while the binding that goes around the four-sided scalloped edge is purple and has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition and appears to have been unused.
