This is a beautiful and classic Depression-era Rose of Sharon quilt in soft yellow and teal green on a soothing mint green ground. It features four large, bold Rose of Sharon blocks, each with yellow and peach blossoms with rich teal green leaves, all of which have been hand-appliqued to the mint green ground.
The hand-quilting is tiny and meticulous. It is in patterns of complex feather wreaths and feathers, while it also details the flowers and leaves. It is also in circles, lines and a twisted rope pattern between the flowers and in dense echo-quilting along the scalloped edges.
The back is yellow cotton, as is the binding that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with a fraying binding and one old repair on one scalloped edge.
