This beautiful Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt is a classic example of the hexagon quilt style that became enormously popular during the 1930s–1940s feedsack era. It is made up of thousands of 1-inch hexagons in 72 "garden blocks" separated by very tiny green diamond rows (each diamond is just 1-inch by 1/4 inch). The entire quilt is hand-quilted in tiny stitches in outlines of the patchwork. The quilt has a scalloped edge on three sides and is straight across at the top thanks to the addition of half-gardens.
It is made up of cheerful colors—sky blues, sunny yellows, lilacs, pinks, soft corals, and warm browns from a mix of small florals, geometric prints, and classic feedsack-style — all set against a creamy white background. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
