A beautiful and authentic 1920s-1930s Martha Washington’s Flower Garden quilt, hand pieced and hand quilted in a diamond rosette made of tiny (1-inch) hexagons.
This quilt features dozens of carefully arranged “flowers,” each radiating from soft yellow centers and set against a crisp white ground. The overall effect is bright and cheerful. The fabrics are noteworthy— including delicate florals, dots, novelty motifs, and classic feedsack patterns in soft pastels and cheerful brights. Each block is unique, creating a charming garden-like mosaic across the surface.
The hand-quilting is in outlines of the more than 1,000 hexagons that make up the quilt. The back is white cotton while the binding is pink cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is very lightweight.
The quilt is in excellent antique condition with no issues noted.
