  • Details
Such a beautiful and classic Depression-era Double Wedding Ring quilt, dating to the 1930s and pieced from a wonderful variety of vintage feedsack and printed cotton fabrics in soft pastel tones. Rach arc is composed of small-scale prints—florals, geometrics, and charming novelty designs—set against an off-white/cream ground and finished with lovely, expert hand quilting in outlines of the tiny patchwork in the arcs and in echoes and geometric flowers in the open white areas.

The quilt has a soft, time-worn texture and displays the craftsmanship typical of the fine quilting from the Depression era. The back is off-white/cream cotton while the binding is pink cotton that has been hand-stitched to both sides. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Unfortunately and as too often happens with feedsack fabrics, there has been some fabric deterioration and fading, especially in the lighter fabrics. While 90-95% of the quilt is in excellent condition, due to fabric deterioration as shown in the photos, this quilt is being sold as a cutter quilt. The binding is intact and the quilt is otherwise sturdy and beautiful.
