This bright and beautiful hand-appliquéd Daffodil Quilt is made of cheerful yellow and green flowers arranged across a crisp white ground and finished with a four-sided yellow and green border. It comes from Ohio and is signed in blue hand-embroidery by its maker Hazel Ellis.
The quilt dates to the 1950s or early 1960s, with daffodil blossoms that are rendered in cheddar yellow, soft green, and dotted feedsack prints. It is sewing-machine-quilted in an all-over double-crosshatch grid and has a cotton/muslin back that has been knife-edge finished, also in machine-stitching. The batting appears to be cotton and is very lightweight.
CONDITION: The quilt has been soaked and hand-washed and is in excellent vintage condition with no issues noted.
