Vintage Red & White Basket Quilt – Classic Depression Era Textile – 64.5” x 74.5”

This striking and cheerful vintage Basket Quilt in classic red and white is circa 1930-1940s and has exquisite hand-quilting in an all-over grid of tiny shells. The quilt reflects the enduring popularity of basket patterns during the Depression era, when quilters favored clean lines, strong contrasts and symbolic designs.

The back is white cotton while the binding is red cotton that has been machine-stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The cotton batting is unsized and lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with a seam separation on a 1/2 inch section of the binding (see photos) and some color transfer visible on the back.
