    This Antique Lady of the Lake Quilt dates to the 1840s–1850s period and remains beautiful even with extensive wear. Entirely hand pieced and hand quilted, the quilt is composed of a lovely assortment of early chintz, calico, geometric, and shirting fabrics arranged in an intricate scrap composition.

    The fabrics include:
    * early double pinks and cinnamon pinks,
    * indigo and cadet blues,
    * mourning browns and soft purples,
    * tiny geometric roller prints,
    * delicate floral chintzes,
    * and muted tan and cream shirtings typical of the 1840s and 1850s.

    The hand quilting is in flower motifs, hearts, and outlines of the patchwork. The back is ivory/beige cotton that has been turned to the front and hand stitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is unsized and lightweight.

    CONDITION: Due to condition issues, the quilt is being offered as a cutter quilt, however it remains beautiful and highly decorative. The condition issues include:
    * widespread fabric loss and shredding,
    * thinning fabrics,
    * scattered holes,
    * staining and discoloration
