Vintage 1940s Mohawk Trail Quilt with Bright Feed Sack Fabrics – 69" x 94"

This cheerful vintage Mohawk Trail Quilt combines bold geometric design with joyful feed sack and scrap fabrics in bright and beautiful colors. The vivid turquoise sashing against the soft white ground gives it a striking, almost modern look while still retaining all the warmth and charm of an authentic Depression-era quilt.

It features beautifully arranged curved Mohawk Trail motifs composed of pieced fan shapes and colorful arcs, many made from small-scale 1930s–1940s cotton prints. The black embroidery blanket stitching outlines the appliqué and gives it visual definition and folk-art character, while the palette of pinks, aqua, yellow, orange, blue, and floral prints has a fresh, cottage-style feel.

The hand quilting is in outlines and double outlines of the tiny patchwork and in geometric shapes in the open white areas, in flowers in the yellow patches and in a modified twisted rope in the sashing and border. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and hand-stitched to the back. The the cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: The quilt is in excellent vintage condition with some dropped/thinning embroidery stitches - see photos.
