Vintage 1960s LeMoyne Star Quilt – Blue & White Scrappy Floral – Hand Quilted – 73” x 84”

Beautiful vintage LeMoyne Star quilt dating to the 1960s and made of 35 scrappy eight-pointed stars are set against white and framed with blue sashing and pale blue cornerstones. The stars are made of mid-century cotton prints, including tiny florals, rose prints, ditsy prints, calico-style patterns and small geometric designs. The palette includes navy and cornflower blue, aqua, mint and grass green, pink, red, lavender, yellow and black. Several of the dark-ground florals are especially striking against the white background.

The hand quilting is tiny, precise and dense and in patterns of twisted ropes along the sashing, outlines of the patchwork, crosshatch grids and diagonal grids. The back is white cotton as is the binding that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back. The batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. The fabrics remain colorful and the blue sashing provides a strong, cheerful contrast to the scrappy stars. Please examine all photographs closely, as they form an important part of the description.
