This colorful vintage Hexagon Mosaic quilt dates to approximately the 1940s to early 1950s. Hundreds of small cotton hexagons have been carefully hand pieced into concentric diamond-shaped rings, creating a striking geometric design that radiates outward from the center.
The quilt is made from vintage cotton fabrics, including bright red, royal blue, turquoise, yellow, burgundy, and soft blue solids, along with blue-and-white shirting stripes, small floral prints, pink roses, and black floral fabrics. The contrasting colors and repeating hexagon arrangements give the quilt an especially distinctive appearance.
The quilt is entirely hand quilted, with rows of stitching following the geometric design. It has a white cotton backing, lightweight batting, and a narrow striped fabric binding that has been machine stitched to the front and handstitched to the back.
CONDITION: The quilt is in very good condition with two old repairs to the back. It presents beautifully, with vibrant colors, attractive hand quilting, and a well-defined geometric pattern. The photographs provide detailed views of the fabrics, stitching, binding, and backing. Please examine the photos carefully as they form an important part of the description.
