  • Details
Beautiful antique Washington Pavement quilt dating to the 1880s, featuring a striking geometric pattern in vibrant red and white. The intricate design consists of interlocking, sharply pointed patchwork surrounding white diamonds and squares, creating a wonderful secondary pattern across the quilt.

The red cotton fabric features a small multicolored geometric print in green, white, and dark blue against a brilliant red background. The contrast with the solid white cotton makes the elaborate piecing especially striking.

The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted, with quilting that follows the geometric shapes of the patchwork, along with elaborate scrolling floral quilting along the four-sided border. The back is white cotton while the white cotton from the front border has been turned to the back and handstitched to form the binding. The cotton batting is lightweight.

CONDITION: Excellent antique condition. The red fabric retains its vibrant color, and the intricate patchwork remains visually striking. Please examine the photographs as they form an important part of the description.
