1930s Shoo Fly Quilt – Blue, White & Pink – Multigenerational Family Heirloom – 66” x 76”

This very lovely 1930s Shoo Fly quilt is a multigenerational family heirloom from North Carolina, originally constructed as a hand-tied quilt and later elaborately longarm quilted in the 1970s.

The quilt features a striking arrangement of traditional Shoo Fly blocks in vibrant blue and white, accented with a small pink center square. The blocks are arranged on point, alternating with solid blue diamonds. There is a four-sided narrow pink inner border and wide blue outer border.

The later longarm quilting is elaborate with continuous looping floral and four-petal motifs throughout the blue and a continuous floral/feather design in the borders. The back is cream white cotton that has been turned to the front and handstitched to form the binding. The batting is lightweight.

On the back there is also the original hand-embroidered inscription, stitched in pink thread:

To my Grand son
Paul W. Hinkle
Grandma Hinkle
Age 81 years
